YTHA9468 - PS1, Chinese School
For kids ages 3 & 4 years old. Give your child an exposure to the Chinese language. Playing and learning will let the children start basic conversation and Chinese rhyme.

YTHA9469 - PS2, Chinese School
Continued class for young students ages 4 & 5 years of age. Through hands-on activities, your child will continue to develop their Chinese language skills, and learn the Chinese culture.

YTHA9470 - MLP-Prep: Pinyin, Chinese School
Students will learn the Chinese phonetic system, basic vocabulary, phrases and dialogues with characters and situations close to the children's life. This is a required course before taking MLP 1.

YTHA9475 - Level 5 - LVH Chinese School
For students who have completed level 4, the texts will have more enrichment contents. Learn Chinese history, literature and geography along with continued Chinese language development. The textbook is the standard Chinese level 2-2 (included).

YTHA9476 - Level 6- LVH Chinese School
For students who have completed level 5, the texts will have more enrichment contents and about 500 new words. The students will learn the Chinese history, literature, and geography along with the Chinese language development. The textbook is the Standard Chinese level 2-3 (included).

For students who have completed level 6, the texts will have more enrichment contents and about 500 new words. The students will learn the Chinese history, literature and geography along with the Chinese language development. The textbook is the standard Chinese level 2-3 (included).

YTHA9548 - Level 8 - LVH Chinese School
Designed for students who have completed Level 7, we will learn to use 167 commonly used Chinese characters, 467 commonly used words and 150 polysemus words. At this level, students will enrich their ability of reading skills by reading 'Chinese Reading Book' which contains 60 articles.

YTHA9557 - Basic Chinese I (Individual)
Designed for the English speaking student who has little experience with the Chinese Language. This course will provide an introduction to the Chinese culture and basic language skills including the Chinese phonetic system, characters, phrases, sentence structure and frequently used conversation.

YTHA9558 - Basic Chinese I (Parent/Child)
Designed for the English speaking student who has little experience with the Chinese Language. This course will provide an introduction to the Chinese culture and basic language skills including the Chinese phonetic system, characters, phrases, sentence structure and frequently used conversation.

YTHA9559 - Basic Chinese II (Individual)
Designed for the English speaking student who completed Basic Chinese I. This course will provide more in depth coverage of the Chinese culture and basic language skills including Chinese phonetic system, characters, phrases, sentence structure and frequently used conversation. For Individual registration.

YTHA9560 - Basic Chinese II (Parent/Child)
Designed for the English speaking student who completed Basic Chinese I. This course will provide more in depth coverage of the Chinese culture and basic language skills including Chinese phonetic system, characters, phrases, sentence structure and frequently used conversation. For Parent/Child registration.

YTHA9584 - Level 9 - LVH Chinese School
Designed for students who have completed Level 8, we will continue to enrich their reading and writing skills. Students will be introduced to the Chinese modern literature. Chinese composition will be the main task for the class. The text books will be either the 'Chinese Level 17-20' by Ma Liping or the 'Standard Chinese Level 9'.

YTHA9618 - MLP 1 - LVH Chinese School
The purpose of this course is for the beginner learning Chinese Language Art. The course provides opportunities to learn all four macro-skills, namely listening, speaking, reading, and writing. The course integrates 302 new words and basic Chinese grammar, enabling the student to read and write more than 30 short fairy tales which is based on these words and the grammar. It helps students who have Chinese background in building up and expanding their language knowledge and skills. Register for section 10 for Ms. Chambers or register for section 11 for Ms. Zhao.

YTHA9619 - MLP 2 - LVH Chinese School
Students who have completed 'ma li ping level 1', or 'standard Chinese level 3', will learn to use 381 commonly used Chinese characters, 47 commonly used Chinese radical and 75 stories or poems. At this level, students will emphasize on recognizing the 381 commonly used Chinese characters by reading the stories or poems. Meanwhile, by retelling the stories or poems, students will enrich their ability to speak Chinese.

YTHA9644 - MLP 3 - LVH Chinese School
Students who have completed Ma Li Ping Level 2, or Standard Chinese Level 4 will learn Chinese Pin Yin and learn to write 364 commonly used Chinese characters. At this level, students will emphasize on recognizing the 364 commonly used Chinese characters by reading stories or poems. Also, students will emphasize on grammar and multiple meanings for the same word or one word with multiple pronunciations. Meanwhile, by retelling the stories or poems, students will enrich their ability to speak Chinese .By reading additional material at home, students will enrich their Chinese reading skills dramatically.

YTHA9674 - MLP 4-LVH Chinese School
Students who have completed Ma Li Ping Level 3 will continue to learn more Chinese characters and improve grammar. Practice reading and speaking Chinese.

YTHA9702 - MLP 5 - LVH Chinese School
For students who have completed Ma Li Ping Level 4, or Standard Chinese Level 5. Students will learn how to look up words using a Chinese dictionary, write Chinese words on a computer using keyboards, and read rewritten chapters from a famous Chinese novel. There will be an emphasis on recalling commonly used words from previous levels. Students will also start to learn the basics of Chinese writing.

YTHA9730 - MLP 6 - LVH Chinese School
For students who have completed Ma Li Ping Level 5, or Standard Chinese Level 6. Students will continue to enrich reading and speaking Chinese. Writing will be formally introduced. There will be introduction of contemporary writers of literary works. Students will learn simple English translation.

YTHY8066 - Math Count
This course is designed to prepare students in, or going into, middle school for the National Mathcounts Competition held in the spring of every school year. Along with learning math concepts and gaining an immense amount of practice, students will learn tricks and techniques required to gain an edge in the competition. After competition, the course will also provide students going into high school with an in depth SAT and PSAT math preparation.

YTHY8757 - Oriental Martial Arts
This oriental martial arts class seeks to spread the influence of traditional martial arts, focusing not on sports or aggression, but rather on the core principles of defense and self-improvement. Students will learn about self-defense, teamwork, and mental discipline. Through studying traditional martial arts with roots across the globe, students learn about and act upon the tenets of integrity, humility, and respect, values that will follow them in their everyday lives. This course promotes physical strength and health, but also places a strong emphasis on mental discipline and teamwork. For students 8 years and older.

YTHY8813 - Drawing & Painting - HuaXia Chinese School
Students will learn to draw and paint animals, people, and things found in nature. We will work mainly with watercolors and acrylics to learn various painting techniques. We will also work with colored pencils, markers and pastels. For students ages 7 and older.
